Join us in welcoming Philip Walters of Bedrock Gems as our guest presenter this month. Philip will be imparting some of his knowledge with us and presenting a sampling of gems (which will also be available for purchase). You're invited to like Bedrock Gems on Facebook and visit their Etsy page. Philip's BIO 1978 to 1998 worked at and then managed Bedrock Supply, (the family jewelry supply business in Edmonton). 1998 started Bedrock Gems. With 41 years of experience, Phillip has gem contacts around the world and frequently goes on fine gem hunting trips to Asia. |

PENNY UP!
Our next meeting is all about fund raising for the Guild and we need your help. We're setting up workstations at the next meeting and are inviting everyone to join us for a fun evening with fellow Guild members creating penny earrings. We'll be dapping, drilling holes, making ear wires (all donations welcome for ear wires or wire to create) and assembling the earrings. The penny earrings will be available for sale at various markets while promoting the Guild, the first being at the TOSH Grand Prix d' Art & Art in Action Fair on July 27th, 2019. The Metal Art Studio will supply the tools needed, the pennies have been donated and we will use our creative powers to assemble the earrings. You can also make penny earrings and bring them to any meeting to contribute to our ongoing fundraising efforts for the guild. You are welcome to bring along your favorite pliers, hammers, dapping blocks etc., all penny donations will be gratefully appreciated! |

The Parksville and District Rock and Gem Club will be joining us to showcase some of their lapidary techniques. They will demonstrate how these beautiful cabochons are made using lapidary equipment. Our 3 experts for the evening, from the local Rock and Lapidary club are Doug Shewan, Jim Dixon and John Fisher. The real treat is ....they will be offering for purchase some of their fine work! |

The demonstration will offer a glimpse into the fun and gratification in fabricating your own jewelry. Watch John as he brings a complicated pendant to completion, piece by piece. Breaking down the design into small handmade components!
